A deceased pier just South of Waveland, MS.
The casino is rebuilt, right on the water, thousands of dollars in electricity, I imagine. They say it brings people back, and it certainly was full, though half the people inside were less attractive and orderly than the debris on the coast. They might've washed up from the gulf too.
Or perhaps they're all washed out, forcibly deconstructed like their homes. Driving to the beach, we could hardly find our way. We stumbled through rows of old foundations, debris, cracked trees, everything overgrown.
You see, Katrina damage hasn't been cleaned up so much as grown over. And I have researched and spent time in New Orleans, in Biloxi, with the people whose lives got ripped apart and the people trying to fix them.
Please don't forget. Don't forget, and don't think it's over, and don't let someone else take care of it.
If nothing else, weep with them. Weep with me.
Oh, yeah, and crit the photo too, if ya like.
Um . . . yeah, feel free to get into the political discussion with me if you like. But don't tell me what it's like til you go there, okay? Disagree all you like, tho. I have nothing against intelligent discussion.
My love to anyone whose life has been beaten and broken. You are not forgotten; I want to remember you forever.
ooo - pretty! In that sad, depressing sort of way. How does that work, anyway?

thank you for not focusing on the shoreline or blades of grass. it is sharp precisely where it would be sharp. Though it is roughly centered, the lines of the grass are random enough that they do compensate a bit. Whatever scanner was used for these is sure a heck of a lot better than mine.
oh, please. we're so far into a deficit from iraq that i'll be surprised if we're ever out of the hole. and so far as power is concerned... america is the ADD child when it comes to attention spans after disasters. they helped for a little while, but all that damage didn't go away fast enough to keep the people with the money interested. quite frankly, america sucks. we just suck. i'm not surprised all the other nationalities hate us.
I really like this picture; beautiful colors and I like the focus
I understand about Katrina...tis a very sad situation, and I don't believe (though I haven't been there personally, like you) that things have gotten a whole lot better.

Better and not better. I mean, wandering around the French Quarter, aside from "we will rebuild' and "Remember Katrina" paraphernalia, it's hard to notice.
But you don't have to go far to see it.

There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
